This Woman Crush Wednesday, we're celebrating the phenomenal rise of Bloody Civilian

Early Life and Inspiration

Hailing from Taraba State, Nigeria, Emoseh grew up in the country’s north, drawing inspiration from cities like Kaduna, Jos, and Abuja. Raised in a conservative environment, her artistic spirit shone through at a young age.  Known for her singing and guitar skills, Emoseh captivated school audiences with her original music.  Interestingly, music wasn’t initially seen as a serious pursuit, except by her supportive father who encouraged her to study music formally.

From Songwriting to Production

Emoseh’s musical journey began with songwriting, crafting songs as early as eight years old. Interestingly, her father, once a member of a band, played a significant role in her early musical foundation.  However, her talents extended beyond songwriting.  She transitioned into beat-making, initially creating beats for school rappers. This paved the way for her to refine her production skills, ultimately leading her to self-produce her own music.

A Career on Fire

Bloody Civilian didn’t jump straight into performing.  She honed her skills as a record producer before taking center stage.  In 2022, she released her explosive debut single, “How To Kill A Man,” accompanied by a music video she wrote, shot, produced, and directed!  This marked the first single from her debut EP, “Anger Management.”

Her talent didn’t go unnoticed.  Later in 2022, she collaborated with Nigerian star Rema on “Wake Up,” a song featured in the blockbuster Marvel film “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.”  This major placement solidified her global impact.

Bloody Civilian continued releasing music throughout 2023, dropping tracks like “I Don’t Like You” and “Escapism.” Notably, her debut EP, “Anger Management,” received a remix treatment titled “Anger Management: At LEasT wE tRIED,” featuring collaborations with prominent artists like JELEEL!, Candy Bleakz, Odumodublvck, Fave, and Tay Iwar.

More than Just a Musician

Beyond her impressive vocal and songwriting skills, Bloody Civilian’s artistic vision extends to directing her own music videos. This creative control allows her to fully translate her artistic vision into her music.

A Rising Star

Bloody Civilian’s achievements are impressive.  She’s not only a talented singer and songwriter, but also a skilled producer and director.  Her unique blend of soul, hip-hop, and Afrobeats is captivating audiences worldwide.  With her recent inclusion on the Bob Marley biopic soundtrack, her career trajectory shows no signs of slowing down.
