Moliy, born Molly Ama Montgomery, is a Ghanaian-American singer and songwriter making bold waves in the Afropop scene. Raised between Accra, Ghana and Florida, USA, her multicultural upbringing plays a huge role in shaping her genre-bending sound — a colorful mix of Afrobeats, alté, R&B, and dancehall.
Moliy shot to international recognition in 2020 when she featured on Amaarae’s viral hit “Sad Girlz Luv Money.” The remix, which included Kali Uchis, became a global anthem, peaking at #80 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #29 on the UK Singles Chart. This collaboration not only showcased her dreamy, ethereal vocals but also placed her on the radar of global music lovers.
Her debut EP, Wondergirl, dropped in 2020 and introduced the world to her soft yet confident sound. Songs from the project celebrated self-discovery, love, and empowerment — themes that speak especially to young women navigating life and identity in today’s world.
In 2024, Moliy teamed up with Jamaican producer Silent Addy for the vibrant single “Shake It to the Max (Fly).” The track quickly went viral on TikTok, leading to a surge in popularity. It climbed to #1 on the UK Afrobeats Singles Chart and hit #70 on the UK Singles Chart in April 2025 — another major win for Moliy’s ever-growing career.
Moliy’s artistry is proof that Afropop has no borders. She represents a new generation of African artists proudly embracing their roots while fusing global sounds to reach wider audiences. With her unique voice, artistic flair, and unwavering authenticity, Moliy is steadily crafting her legacy as a global music powerhouse.
