Making Jump To Our Beats LagosJump Radio
Fecko, born Ifeanyi Chukwuebuka Ibegbunam in Anambra State, Nigeria, is a UK-based rapper whose artistry combines Pan-African vision, lyrical mastery, and a deep love for storytelling. Raised in the heart of Mushin, Lagos, Fecko’s stage name—Formidable Emcees Can Knockout Obstacles—captures the grit and message behind his music. Since 2006, he’s been blazing trails in African hip-hop with standout tracks like “Kalabash,” “Fela Must Rise,” and “Work Chop,” and groundbreaking moments like winning The Mic Africa, being featured on a Times Square billboard, and becoming the first Nigerian rapper to perform in the metaverse.
Fecko’s music reflects the essence of Lagos life—its hustle, rhythm, and raw stories. “Growing up in Lagos influenced the sound and themes in my lyrics,” he explains. Life itself, with its challenges and beauty, inspired him to choose music as a path of expression and impact. As a true student of the culture, he draws influence from legends like Fela Kuti, Nas, Jay-Z, and Trybesmen.
Fecko’s latest body of work, ART EP (Afrobeat, Rhythm and Truth), was inspired by the legacy of Fela and the dream of uniting Africa through music. Tracks like “Work Chop” tackle entrepreneurship and survival with both grit and groove. His storytelling blends Afrocentric vibes with sharp delivery and relatable narratives, speaking to everyday people and shared struggles.
What makes Fecko’s music unique is its strong Pan-African identity and refusal to chase trends. He’s committed to sharing genuine stories, staying true to his sound, and evolving with each release. While he enjoys wide listening, he always interprets trends in a way that remains true to his artistic identity.
Navigating the music industry as an independent artist hasn’t been easy. “Scaling through gatekeepers without a major label is tough,” he shares, “especially when you’re self-funded.” Still, he’s learned that consistency beats hype and that quality always wins in the long run. Fecko hopes his music leaves fans with hope, joy, and good vibes.
He has new music coming soon and dreams of collaborating with Burna Boy, Tems, Omah Lay, and Koffee. You can find his music on Spotify and Apple Music. In five years, Fecko envisions reaching even wider audiences while continuing to release authentic, powerful music. For first-time listeners, he recommends the ART EP—a project that captures the core of his vision and message.
