Making Jump To Our Beats LagosJump Radio
With over 100 shows in just two years, spanning Europe, Africa, and North America, JJ Paulo has become one of the most exciting live performers to emerge from Scandinavia. From Roskilde Festival to Europavox France, where he headlined for 15,000 fans, JJ Paulo’s high-energy performances unite Afrobeats rhythms, Tanzanian Sukuma roots, and global pop flair.
Recently recognised with a Danish Music Award for Live Act of the Year, JJ Paulo continues to turn heads across continents. He has caught the attention of BBC Radio and MTV Africa, who hailed him as “an absolute star.”
Now, with new music and a strong international team led by Tim Brauner (Warner Music Nordics), JJ Paulo is gearing up for his biggest year yet — and his sound is already setting dance floors alight from Copenhagen to Kigali.
Born in Tanzania and raised in Denmark, JJ Paulo carries his Sukuma heritage as the foundation of his artistry.
“My culture gives me confidence,” he explains. “It’s allowed me to become successful without ever signing a record deal. Ownership is everything.”
That independence fuels both his sound and his mindset — fusing Afrobeats and Tanzanian rhythm with an unwavering belief in creativity, hard work, and humility.
JJ Paulo’s latest single, “Oluwa” (meaning God in Yoruba), reflects his journey as a self-made artist who helped make African music mainstream, popular, and respected in Denmark.
The song is soulful and uplifting — a blend of Afrobeats groove, melodic storytelling, and heartfelt gratitude.
“Oluwa is about victory and faith,” he says. “It’s a song for everyone who keeps moving forward, no matter how hard it gets.”
🎵 “Oluwa” drops this Friday, October 24 — inspired by Nigerian music and the Afrobeats sound that continues to influence JJ Paulo’s creative journey.
Known for his dynamic stagecraft, JJ Paulo mixes Afrobeats, Sukuma dance, and modern pop production into a seamless live experience. His shows are built for movement — powerful, joyful, and interactive.
“When I first started, I was shy — I’d look down instead of into the crowd. But over time, I learned to connect. Now, when I perform, it’s pure exchange — energy both ways.”
JJ Paulo’s rise from a bedroom studio to international stages reflects his grounded philosophy:
“Be brave. Believe in yourself. And treat everyone with kindness — even the person lifting your bags at the hotel could own the hotel one day.”
This humility shines through both in his music and in how he connects with fans worldwide.
Having just wrapped an ambitious summer tour across Scandinavia, Central America, and Europe, JJ Paulo is already planning headline concerts in Paris, London, and Berlin.
“It’s risky,” he says with a grin. “I might fall — but I’d rather fall trying than stay home pretending to stand.”
As for dream collaborations?
“Any Nigerian artist! Nigeria’s scene inspires me daily — Afrobeats is taking over the world.”
